DIY At Home French Tip Pedicure

I’ve been doing the French tip pedicure on myself for over ten years. In between doing the regular solid colors, of course.

Not saying it takes that long to perfect, because it’s literally so easy to do!

I love how this style always comes out looking real clean, classy and sophisticated. And I’m not saying that because some random scrub stopped me on the street before, noticing my French tip pedicured toes.

It honestly just goes with everything! Plus, it also lasts a long time without looking grown out and gives your nails a break after being suffocated by color for periods of time.

Here is what you need

  • White Nail Polish
  • Sally Hanson Double Duty, base and top coat – Doesn’t have to be this specific clear coat but just what I prefer since it’s an easy 2 in 1 nail polish.
  • Matte Scotch Tape – You’ll want matte because you can distinguish a little better how thick of a white line you’ll be making. If you don’t mind spending a little more or want to make it easier to see where you are marking the polish line, Amazon has these stickers. I personally have not used them because I like to be cheap and use what I have at home but I like the idea of them!
  • Straight Edge Nail Clippers – You will want a nice straight French tip line for your toes to match the polish line we are making with the tape. Here are some Tweezerman options at Target or on Amazon. Both can be found at either location.

Here is what you do

1. First begin by prepping your nails by using the straight edge nail clippers, getting that nice clean cut.

While your at it, clean your nails with nail polish remover if you haven’t already (obvi).

2. Add a clear base coat to your nails and allow it to dry.

3. Now use the matte scotch tape to mark how thick of a white polish line you would like.

4. Paint the line you made (above the tape) thoroughly with the white polish, as shown.

5. Remove the tape carefully from the left to the right, while the polish is still wet.

6. Allow the polish to dry and add final clear top coat over nails.

7. Repeat for all nails

If you mess up with the white polish, no biggie, you can try to fix it with your hand or just use nail polish remover and start over.

But, if say the tape messes up the clear base coat, (happens from time to time) adding the top coat will usually hide it.

Also, patience is key with this DIY but worth it in the end!

Let me know how it turned out for you!!
